REFLEX TECHNIQUE

REFLEX TECHNIQUE:

Exercises for the stimulation of involuntary, conscious or unconscious motor responses to a stimulus, with the aim of producing the physiotherapist desired movement.

Reflex techniques are based on the application of external forces, which produce a certain movement without voluntary muscle contraction through involuntary, conscious or unconscious motor responses.

Those reflexesare governed by the lower motor centres (the spinal level, the brain stem, the mesencephalic), until it reaches the cortex as a last step of this complex process.

These techniques are recommended when joint mobility is compromised.
